Revitalization and Relationality in Research with Indigenous Peoples
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ernesto Colín. Dr. Colín is a visual artist, Aztec dancer, local school board member, and Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching & Learning at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. He teaches courses about Social Justice in schools, Anthropology of Education, School Reform, and Qualitative Methodologies. Previously, he was a high school Spanish teacher and soccer coach in both comprehensive-public and charter high schools in Southern California. He holds B.A.'s in Chicana/o Studies and Spanish, and an M.A. in Secondary Education. He received his PhD in Anthropology of Education from Stanford University and his research interests include indigenous education, culturally responsive pedagogy, instructional technology, and teacher education. He is the author of the book, Indigenous Education Through Dance and Ceremony, and has done research with indigenous schools across Turtle Island, including Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States.
