Joel Tropp, Steele Family Professor of Applied and Computational Mathematics, has been elected as a 2024 Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). IMS Fellows demonstrate distinction in research in statistics or probability or have demonstrated leadership that has profoundly influenced the field. Professor Tropp receives this honor "for contributions to the fusion of advanced mathematics and data science, bringing forth groundbreaking algorithms and theoretical insights that have profoundly influenced computational statistics and signal processing."
