Professor Rosakis to Receive 2011 Eringen Medal

Ares J. Rosakis, Theodore von Karman Professor of Aeronautics and Professor of Mechanical Engineering; Chair, Division of Engineering and Applied Science, will be receiving the A. C. Eringen Medal at the 48th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science where he will also deliver the Engineering Science Lecture.  The A. C. Eringen Medal is awarded in recognition of sustained outstanding achievements in Engineering Science.

In addition, a symposium is being organized in honor of Professor Rosakis, to coincide with the 48th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science. 

Past Caltech recipients of the A. C. Eringen Medal include James K. Knowles, Kenan Professor of Applied Mechanics, and Subra Suresh, currently Director of the National Science Foundation, who has also held the Caltech Clark Millikan Visiting Professor Chair in Aeronautics and was a Caltech Moore Visiting Scholar.
